OVA1 Blood Test Now Available to Aid Pre-surgical Evaluation of Women for Ovarian Cancer
Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death from gynecologic cancers in the United States and the fifth-leading cause of cancer deaths in women. Now, with the availability of OVA1, physicians can assess, prior to a planned surgery, the likelihood that a woman's ovarian mass is malignant in order to direct her to the most appropriate surgeon, promoting more favorable treatment outcomes.

Earlier this year, Dr. David Kung, assistant professor of mathematics at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, was invited by the Mathematical Association of America to present a lecture at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in San Francisco, the largest conference of mathematicians in the world. Kung will reprise his talk on Wednesday, March 31, at SMCM as part of the Natural Science and Mathematics Colloquium series.

NASA Hosts RockOn! 2010 University Rocket Science Workshop in June
American university faculty and students are invited to a weeklong workshop to learn how to build and launch a scientific experiment into space. NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia is hosting the RockOn! 2010 workshop June 19-24 in partnership with the Colorado and Virginia Space Grant Consortia. Registrations for the 2010 workshop are being accepted through March 22.
